Activating a Regulated Phone Number

    Overview

    Regulated phone numbers require mandated information be submitted to the regional regulatory authority before they can be rented. To allow this, customers will need to associate a Compliance Application to a regulated phone number as part of the purchase flow. You can either associate an existing Compliance Application or create a new application as part of the purchase process.

    Note: Only Applications in “Submitted” or “Accepted” state can be associated with a phone number.

    Choose the Compliance Application

    Once a Compliance Application is associated with a phone number it’s compliance status goes into an “In-review” state. At this point the phone number is not yet active for use and is pending a review. Internal teams review the associated Compliance Application and work with our carrier partners to activate the phone number. You can view phone number pending activation on the “Pending Numbers” screen on your Console.

    Once a Compliance Application has been associated with the regulated phone number, our internal teams work with our carrier partners to activate the phone number. Compliance status of a phone number is updated by the internal teams based on the review and can have the following values:

    • Pending: A regulated phone number that has been rented and does not have any Compliance Application associated with it will be in a “Pending” state.
    • In-review: Once a Compliance Application is associated with a regulated phone number, it goes into an “In-review” status. At this point, internal teams review the compliance information provided and work with carrier partners to enable the Voice and SMS services on the phone number.
    • Accepted: If the Compliance information associated with a Phone number is found to be in-line with the regional regulation, our carrier partners enable the Voice and SMS service on the phone number and the Compliance Status of the phone number is changed to “Accepted”. Once “Accepted”, the phone number is ready for use and can be found on the “Active” numbers page on your console.
    • Rejected: If the Compliance information associated with the Phone number is found to be incomplete/insufficient, the compliance status of the phone number is marked as “Rejected”. At this point a new Compliance Application, with updated information, will need to be linked to this phone number to restart the review process. This can be done on the “Pending” numbers screen on your console
