Payment Methods

Plivo accepts the following payment methods:

Plivo accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. PayPal is not supported.

Add a Credit Card

  1. Navigate to Billing in the Plivo console
  2. In the Payment Details section, enter your card information
  3. Click Add New Card

Set Up ACH Debit (US Only)

ACH debit requires at least one credit card on file.
  1. Navigate to Billing and select bank direct debits
  2. Enter your bank account details
  3. Plivo sends a micro-deposit of $0.01 with a code starting with “SM” (e.g., SMXXXX)
  4. Enter the four digits following “SM” in the console to verify
Verification typically takes 2-3 days. Maximum 10 verification attempts allowed.

USD Bank Transfer

USD Bank Transfer avoids the 3% Payment Gateway Fee (PGF) charged on credit card payments. Transfer options:
  • Domestic Wire Transfer: Same-day settlement
  • ACH Transfer: Next-day settlement

Wire Transfer

For wire transfers over $1,000, contact Plivo Support with:
  • Your use case
  • Company details
  • Estimated monthly volume

Recharges and Credits

Manual Recharge

  1. Navigate to Billing
  2. Enter the recharge amount (minimum $25)
  3. Complete payment

Auto-Recharge

Auto-recharge automatically adds funds when your balance drops below a threshold.

How It Works

  1. Set a threshold value (minimum balance trigger)
  2. Set a recharge amount (amount to add when triggered)
  3. When balance drops below threshold, Plivo charges your card
Example: Balance of 100,thresholdof100, threshold of 100, recharge amount of $20.
  • If a 90chargedropsyourbalanceto90 charge drops your balance to 10
  • Auto-recharge triggers 5 times (20×5=20 × 5 = 100)
  • Final balance: $110 (above threshold)
If a recharge fails, Plivo retries when your balance drops below threshold again.

Configure Auto-Recharge

  1. Navigate to Billing
  2. Go to the Auto Recharge section
  3. Set threshold amount
  4. Set recharge amount
  5. Save

Monthly Recharge Limits

Monthly limits protect against fraudulent activity like SMS pumping or credential leaks.
  • Plivo calculates a recommended limit based on your usage
  • Adjust your limit anytime in the Console
  • Some accounts have an upper cap based on account history

Balance Notifications

Plivo automatically sends email alerts when your balance drops below 250,250, 100, and $10. Configure custom alerts:
  1. Go to Payment Settings
  2. Set up to 3 custom threshold amounts
  3. Add additional notification email addresses

India-Specific Billing

Different requirements apply based on your business registration location.

For India-Registered Businesses

  • All payments must be made in INR
  • Provide GST registration details in the Console
  • GST is charged on invoiced amounts
  • Payments must be made using an Indian credit card

For Businesses Outside India

  • All payments must be made in USD
  • Use international routes to reach Indian destinations
  • International taxes may apply based on your jurisdiction
