# Get a Phone number

> Purchase an SMS-enabled Plivo number for GitHub Actions

Before you get started, you must have an SMS-enabled Plivo phone number to send SMS messages to numbers in the US and Canada. You can purchase numbers from the [Phone Numbers](https://cx.plivo.com/phone-numbers) page of the console, or by using the [Numbers API](/docs/numbers).
