Hack MailChimp API with SMS Subscriptions Powered by Plivo
- 10 Feb 2014
We’ve seen people hack together all sorts of SMS integrations in the past, some practical and some weird, but Vince Dasta takes a really cool approach to using SMS to subscribe to his website’s mailing list in his post “Enabling SMS subscriptions to your MailChimp list using Plivo”. Subscribing to Vince’s mailing list is as easy texting him your email address at (779) 201-1688. The full post can be found on Vince’s blog. Vince also followed up this post with some more user friendly enhancements including, extracting email addresses from SMS and saving the subscriber’s phone number to their Mailchimp profile. The complete instructions can be found on “Enabling SMS subscriptions to your MailChimp list using Plivo - part 2”.
Many of this examples such as this one can all be found in his book Building Phone Applications, a step by step guide to building voice and SMS applications using Plivo and PHP. Next week we’ll write a feature about his book and give out some special discounts, so stay tuned!
Why Vince Chose Plivo:
We were flattered to be the SMS API provider chosen by Vince. Vince actually quote quite extensively about why he chose Plivo over Twilio on his blog. Inspired by that, we actually build a page dedicated to why we are a great alternative to Twilio. Read more on our Twilio alternative page.
